Air Pollution by Coal Combustion Coal-fired Generation and Mercury Emissions Killing Millions of Humans

America and China has maybe the biggest problems with coal and air pollution, but Europe or Germany and Poland are not much better. Not only the human-made climate changes, global warming and radioactive carbon emissions are problematic. Coal almost always contains traces of the radioactive elements uranium, thorium and radium. The environmental consequences of coal combustion, coal-fired generation, gasification, toxication and toxic emissions are enormous. Air, soils and waters are and were polluted by the coal industry, especially by heavy metals including arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and selenium, as well as aluminum, antimony, barium, beryllium, boron, chlorine, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, thallium, vanadium, and zinc. Worldwide around a million people are currently being killed slowly, passively and creepingly by coal pollution in just one year – these are the official numbers, in reality it are much more deaths and sick humans!

In Germany thousands are dying of the poisoning and coal fine dust. In Europe, hundreds of thousands of people die by air pollution. The people who get sick and suffer from it every day are not even described here. The destruction of entire species (life forms like humans included), of nature and the environment through all these environmental poisoning and destruction would go beyond the scope here, same for climate research and global warming in this relation – but you can read more on our pages and connected projects. Internationally recognized climate, nature, environmental and legal institutions, especially for Environmental Rights and Human Rights agree, it’s mass murder (ecocide and genocide), not just of so many different life forms. The global air pollution, also caused by the coal industry or coal branch is genocide or mass murdering, and a big crime on the whole humanity. This must not only be payed with fines and taxes it must be judged by international laws and by all possible laws fast as possible, before much more humans will die. The actual mass murdering can be compared with the Holocaust.

Coal plant emissions (by coal burning, coal mining and gasification), coal dust, coal ash and radiation of coal mines and coal-fired plants killing actually around one million people in just one year! Total air pollution kills more than 9 million people worldwide. Clean air, water and soil, as well as a healthy environment are Fundamental Rights (not just ethical and moral), Climate Rights, Environmental Rights and Human Rights – these are non-negotiable and immediately to follow. Anyone who ignores or tacitly ignores this, is partwise guilty or responsible!

Brown coal sources (brown money), Nazism, Nazis and brown coal (in German BraunKohle) or lignite are more connected than many know. Important questions arise. Which investors are investing in the German coal industry? Who still invests in the German coal industry and is involved – not only in terms of money? What interests have the politics, business or economy and who benefits from the dirty coal business, the deaths or sick humans? What are the relations of connected industries or branches, especially in the financial and health sector?

Maybe compare America’s and Germany’s Air Pollution in relation to the country size?

“Coal plants are responsible for 42 percent of US mercury emissions, a toxic heavy metal that can damage the nervous, digestive, and immune systems, and is a serious threat to the child development.” https://www.ucsusa.org/clean-energy/coal-and-other-fossil-fuels/coal-air-pollution#.W5D9csIuC70

“Coal-fired power plants release nearly 400,000 tons of hazardous air pollutants every year, including more than 40 percent of all man-made mercury emissions in the U.S. They also contribute more than 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions in the United States.” https://earthjustice.org/climate-and-energy/stopping-coal/coal-plants

We all need to support a quick and efficient coal exit, especially in Germany, Poland and Czech Republic where the most polluting lignite mines and dirtiest coal plants in Europe are still operating. Air pollution and radiation does not stop at the national borders, it affects us all, especially the neighboring countries.

Update:

The global gasification and poisoning by brown coal world champion Germany is still ongoing and millions will die if the coal exit isn’t realized as fast or soon as possible! The air pollution by radioactive coal, coal combustion (emissions), radioactive coal ash or coal dust and the excavation material releasing more radioactive particles into the environment than nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants together! The ORNL estimates that by 2040, coal-fired power plants will release more than 800,000 tonnes of uranium and 2 million tonnes of thorium worldwide if the world coal nations not finally end the coal use. The uranium content of lignite is 0.2 grams per ton, that of the overburden 0.2 to 3 grams (mean 0.8 g) per tonne. This means that with the annual production of approximately 100 million tons of lignite and 460 million tons of overburden, 388 tons of uranium are also moved or released in the environment (air, soils, waters). And coal groups or coal companies like LEAG and RWE are proud to have mined each over one billion tons of brown coal (lignite). The release of all the toxins and especially radioactive particulate matter into the environment will have a huge negative impact on nature, the environment and humanity in decades to come, many consequences are still unclear today. We all (humanity) need to stop this radioactive contamination of planet earth, especially the massive pollution of the lakes, rivers and oceans. The humanity and public has the right to know the whole truth about the brown coal and radioactivity. It affects us all, especially the children, the sick and all the victims who died or still suffering.

How Breathing Coal Ash is Hazardous to your Health

Update 2:

Please support the environmentalists and Human Rights activists at Hambach Forest in NRW, Germany. The Constitutional State, Democracy, Climate Rights, Environmental Rights, Fundamental Rights and Human Rights are in danger – many rights and laws are violated by the brown coal or lignite companies like RWE and other responsibles in different branches like politics.

Coal fired plants and brown coal mines release unhealthy toxic air, coal ash and coal dust particles. What is wrong against fresh air forests generating, they even filter most of the toxics and can store toxic carbon. Officials and politicans should protect the environmentalists, nature and Human Rights activists not force them out of woods or forests. The officials and responsibles should force the corporations of destruction and homicides (destruction of landscapes, life and forests for dirty coal business, money or profits) out of the landscapes and build diverse natural landscapes or healthy environments like parks and mixed forests! No one wants dirty brown coal, toxic or radioactive lignite in future. These really anti-democratic and criminal actions by the officials and contacts or ‘partners’ of the coal industry’ contradict and harm any true democracy, it is not without reason that petitions and referendums have now been concluded with over a million votes and signatures! Much more will follow, millions (not only in Germany) are against the clearing, deforestation and other destruction or pollution by the RWE group. If the brown coal company RWE can’t produce clean energy without harming, killing or violating life (humans included) and keeps on polluting the worldwide environment, airs, soils and waters, the RWE companies or group must be stopped immediately.

Too much humans already were killed by the pollution by coal or lignite companies and so many still suffering by diseases like asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, various cancers (skin, lung, bladder, liver and stomach cancer), headaches, heart diseases (strokes etc.), pneunomia, respiratory illness,.. and there are much more unhealthy conditions and factors (noice, stress, etc.) especially in the mining areas and around the brown coal power plants. Circulatory, respiratory, central nervous system, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and urogenital issues, as well as birth defects are elevated in coal-mining regions. The pollution and toxins by the coal industry damaging and damaged the nervous, digestive and immune systems of many millions of humans and it is a serious threat to the children and young generation. The German Air Pollution and environmental destruction caused by Germany don’t stops at the national borders, also the neighbours like Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland are affected. Also other nations in the world are affected by the German pollution, especially by the enivronmental pollution, air pollution and water pollution. Germany should show more responsiblity and solidarity for the hundreds millions of victims, all the deaths and sick humans suffering by the pollution which is and was partwise caused by Germany. Over 300 million children suffering by the air pollution worldwide – and this was 2016! https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/oct/31/300-million-children-live-in-areas-with-extreme-air-pollution-data-reveals

All companies who can’t prevent any deaths, diseases or people dying by their actions, dangerous presence, toxic side products, toxic materials, toxins, pollutants or unhealthy waste products should be closed and stopped completely and immediately – or humanity, state and society let continue these mass murderers? In memories to all the deaths and victims died by the pollution and toxication caused by the coal industry in Germany. We are very disappointed and sad about all this injustice and ignorance, especially by responsibles in the politics or German government.

The “political group” or partwise state-owned company RWE keeps on violating Climate Laws, Fundamental Rights, Environmental Rights and Human Rights directly and indirectly. Democracy, civil rights and liberties are in danger, so like the rule of law. Many other important national, European and international laws are violated, especially in relation to business, corruption, health and organised crime. Government, state authority (law enforcement officers and special commandos) are being abused to forcefully enforce RWE’s interests, regardless of casualties, accidents or even deaths. According to scientific and medical researches RWE is responsible for thousands of deaths during the years and thousands of diseases or sick peoples!

.

The German society and especially the responsibles must stop this land degradation, deforestation, environmental destruction and pollution by RWE now or in the next days, not next month or next year. Clean air, waters, soils and a healthy environment are Fundamental Rights, Environmental Rights and Human Rights. All these laws are non-negotiable and immediately to follow!

Support the environmentalists, Human Rights activists and victims of the destruction and pollution by brown coal companies. To keep the Hambach forest is not just important for conservation (especially of all the endangered species) and environmental protection, the forest, various trees and soils are important CO2 storage and filter mediums, also for the toxic air released by the coal power plants. The Hambach Forest contains endangered life forms and species who are in danger by extinction. The plans of RWE are criminal and illegal in many cases and relations, especially to national, European and international laws like Climate Laws, Environmental Laws and Human Rights Laws. There are countless evidences, documentaries and reports about the violations of all these laws by RWE – you can see a lot in the media. More detailed information, facts, scientific papers, reports and sources you can see on all the linked pages, platforms, institutions, organisations and networks.

Climate Camp in Leipzig Region for Fast Coal Exit and to Save Towns like Pödelwitz

Greening Deserts visited the climate camp Klimacamp Leipziger Land in Pödelwitz and exchanged with many awesome people about climate changes, coal, environment, environmental protection, conservation, nature, system changes and a lot of alternatives and solutions for a fast and efficient coal exit. It’s not just possible but urgent to save the environment, animals, humans, plants and all life forms from extinction, especially in the concerned regions.
Coal mining, burning or coal-fired generation causing a massive toxification of air, soils and water. The air pollution going around the world and like global warming it affects all humans and nations around the world. Mostly the poor people or communities suffer the most, because the coal industries destroying also their environments, even if they are on the other side of the world. This is not just unfair, it’s against any ethical and moral principles. It’s also a crime against humanity and violating many Fundamental Rights and Human Rights! Where is the justice and true rule of law.

Another massive problem with the coal is the radiation. The Swiss environmental network and BUND Germany published important articles and scientific reports about this issue: “Coal mining produces radioactive excavated material, mine water and radioactive particulate matter that is released into the environment. Coal transport with uncovered railway wagons also contributes to further distribution. If the coal is burned, the radioactive substances with the ashes get into the environment. Although filters in large-scale plants reduce the amount of radioactive ash by 99.5 percent, certain radioactive isotopes – for example, radon, lead and polonium – are still released into the environment. They become gaseous during combustion and can therefore hardly be removed from the exhaust air. The filter dusts must be safely stored as highly hazardous waste; for example, in a repository. This is because when burning the radioactive substances accumulate in the ashes: If the burned coal contains an ash content of five percent, so at the end of the combustion, the concentration of radioactive substances massively increased..” Thorium and uranium are another nuclear waste products caused by coal mining and concentrated by coal burning, the radioactive contamination is immense.

There are not just bad news. We have seen many good developments and news in so many fields. Two important things we exchanged about was that all the good alternatives and innovative solutions should be brought together (assembled or compiled) in one overview, so that everyone can understand and work better. The other thing is that Greening Deserts overworked the concept for the greening and research camps, it would be possible to establish a permanent climate camp in each bigger mining landscape. It would be a great platform for climate researchers and also for other scientists. The coal branch could see or understand that the potentials of a fast and effective coal exit are enourmous. More and better payed jobs could be created and the profits would be multiple times higher. It’s really complete nonsense to keep on with coal mining, not just because of the reasons stated here. Keep the coal in the ground and make peace with yourself and the humanity.

To a free discussion round we exchanged with some kids about good ideas for the panel. We had the idea to establish conservation, climate and environmental protection as fixed school subject in schools, at least once a week.

Another thing is to restore and recultivate old natural German landscapes which were very important for the water cycle and balancing the climate, environment and natural processes. We want to restore for example old wetlands like were destroyed by coal mining companies or other responsibles in the region of Leipzig. The region Leipzig was moorland landscape, alluvial or floodplain forest and now it’s much dryland or artifical lakeland. We need to create much more natural habitats and reservates there, more ancient plants and trees like bald zypresses and pin oaks. You must know wetlands are and were important for carbon capture or storage, a process known as carbon sequestration, holding up to 50 times as much carbon by area as rainforests! https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/feb/03/scientists-hope-wetland-carbon-storage-experiment-is-everyones-cup-of-tea

..there are much more serious and scientific evidences that the air pollution caused by coal burning and coal mining kills humans, not just nearby coal-fired power plants or in coal power nations like China, USA, Russia, Poland, Germany,.. also all other nations are affected. The killing of people caused by coal combustion, gasification and mining is not better than any other genocide – also if it is passive and during a long time.

Update:

After the climate camp in the lignite mining region in Saxony nearby Leipzig the Klimacamp in the Rhineland started today and will run until 22th of August. The Climate Games Basel in Switzerland are still running. The climate camps are serious events with very diverse programms. It’s not just about climate change and global warming, but also about cultural, economic, ecologic, educational, social, scientific and much more imporant issues! Take a look on the websites for more details.

Don’t ignore or misunderstand these events and movements. They inform and share important climate and environmental themes, especially in relation to conservation, environmental protection, human-made climate changes and pollution. The main goal is to stop or block the coal mining, coal burning and coal-fired generation which is responsible for so much many deaths and the massive destruction of our environment and nature. Support all the great movements and organisations working for a fast and effective coal exit! Clean air and a healthy environment are Human Rights, too.

People wake up, finally – especially the responsibles! We need to establish environmental awarness and sustainability in so many fields or areas. It’s never to late to do so. There is a good Chinese proverb: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

Reduce and stop the worldwide ecocide and genocide by environmental pollution!

Update 2:

Houston we have a problem!

Human-made climate changes like global warming and air pollution (actual 9 million deaths in a year) killing millions of humans yearly! By coal plant emissions (coal burning and coal mining) and radiation of coal-fired plants and coal mines dying around a million. Is this not mass murdering or genocide? An interesting question, Human Rights organisations and international lawyers (bodies, courts, institutes and universities) for environmental rights, climate justice, business, health and Human Rights analysing and monitoring now the responsibles (key persons and companies). Special anti-corruption divisons are informed and criminal investigations will follow. Big thanks to Harvard and Washington University of Law and all the other universities with Human Rights departments who working on these issues, too.

Update 3:

To all the politics and responsibles like the Coal Commission or Coal Exit Commission, start finally to act, work transparent and present your solutions how to replace the dirty coal fast and efficient – so fast as possible, before more humans die by the air pollution! You all are responsible, too.

German Industry and Polluters Responsible for Climate Change and Global Warming

The dirty German automotive industry, the coal industry and all other polluters killed and still killing tens of thousands of people each year or they are responsible for so many deaths. It’s not just the massive air pollution, but also the soil and water pollution. This pollutes not just Germany, but also neighbouring countries in Europe and the worldwide environment. It weakens the animals, humans and vegetation – many became or become sick. Humans eat this dirt, polluted or toxic food, with the exception of greenhouse tomatoes and paprica from the Netherlands or Spain – also organic food can be affected by this pollution. Another main problem is the global warming by extreme heating caused by the cities, industries and wasteful consumption. It’s long overdue to cool down cities and urban areas with more greening actions and projects. Every child nows that plants produce fresh air or oxygen and filter CO2. That’s why Greening Deserts want to plant billions of trees worldwide, especially in Europe and Africa! #forestation #forestry #greening #reforestation #urbangreening

It’s never to late to change something and to reduce the real causes until they are stopped or transformed, so long the problems are solved. Everybody is partwise responsible and could live more sustainable, save more energy, food, water and resources.

Never forget clean air, food and water are Human Rights, as well as a healthy environment. It are fundamental laws and basic rights are broken each day. To get your right you must demand or even fight for it. Another thing is that too many people destroying life, nature and wasting resources by extreme consumption. It’s horrible, Germany is leading in food waste, plastic and paper wasting in Europe. Many people are also responsible for that madness. Everyone must do something, don’t wait for others saving the world. To change the world into a better one, you all must do something for – big changes working just if humanity unites their forces to solve the biggest world problems.

Remember the holocaust in Germany, so then think about the actual genocide caused by the gasification or environmental pollution. By worldwide air pollution dying over 9 millions each year, in Europe it are over 500.000 deaths! Maybe Germany should think about this actual holocaust and crimes against humanity or mankind – think about all the responsibles of this genocide.

The time to change is now and was long time ago. Support our epochal and sustainable projects for conservation, environmental protection and climate protection. Help us to reduce the massive air pollution and global warming by greening, reforestation and urban greening (especially rooftop greening) on regional, national and global scale.
We worked out many great solutions and developed innovations with educational, cultural, scientific and social impact. Everything is very extensively and in detail described in the master plan and business plan of Greening Deserts Concept and Study on Sustainable Greening Methods, Greenhouse Management, Forestry, Agriculture and Culture Industry for Surface Mining and Post-Mining Landscapes‘.

Human Rights Day and Quotes

Share much Love, Peace, Harmony and Unity on the Human Rights Day and on all other days! And maybe think about Human Rights Days or a Human Rights Week? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Rights_Day

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. – Martin Luther King

The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. – John F. Kennedy

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. – United Nations, Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. Our strength is our unity of purpose. To that high concept there can be no end save victory. – Franklin D. Roosevelt

Human rights’ are a fine thing, but how can we make ourselves sure that our rights do not expand at the expense of the rights of others. A society with unlimited rights is incapable of standing to adversity. If we do not wish to be ruled by a coercive authority, then each of us must rein himself in…A stable society is achieved not by balancing opposing forces but by conscious self-limitation: by the principle that we are always duty-bound to defer to the sense of moral justice. – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Climate Conference COP22 in Marrakesh Morocco

In Bangladesh alone, tens of millions are expected to have to flee from low-lying plains in coming years because of sea level rise and more severe weather, creating a migrant crisis that will make today’s pale in significance. With considerable justice, Bangladesh’s leading climate scientist says that “These migrants should have the right to move to the countries from which all these greenhouse gases are coming. Millions should be able to go to the United States.” And to the other rich countries that have grown wealthy while bringing about a new geological era, the Anthropocene, marked by radical human transformation of the environment. – Chomsky Noam
A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men. Our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects. – Herman Melville
All things are connected like the blood that unites us. We do not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. – Chief Seattle
A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people. – Franklin D. Roosevelt
What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another. – Gandhi
The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river. – Ross Perot
The best friend of earth of man is the tree. When we use the tree respectfully and economically, we have one of the greatest resources on the earth. – Frank Lloyd Wright

Just a note, have seen no politician who planted a tree at the conference.

Greening Deserts Calling for Help and Support

How you can see on the crowdfunding pages only a couple of good people wanted to support the Greening Deserts project financially. There are many reasons like you can read here or in the last posts. It’s sad that so many people who can help ignore(d) such an important project also even if they know or noticed that the project needs help.

In todays times, so less care and showing some courage or real support for others, the nature or planet earth. The project is not just for the poor countries, it’s for all areas need more green, parks, woods and a healthy and more natural environment. To realise the project together with the world community would change the world into a better one.

Always remember, if you support the project you support yourself and your future, sad that so few people understand that. You help us and we can help us all, especially the poor and young generation.

If you want really help actively or financially you can connect the founder and send some money with paypal or credit card. You can send also a personal cheque, money order or bank draft. Adresses you can find in the info section and impressum. For each donation you can get the same rewards like in the crowdfunding campaigns. You will get your rewards if we have the money we need and can start with the first camp. If you can, write a mail before you send money, so we can stay in contact. Thank you, each donation counts! And thank you for liking, but constructive feedback, sharing or other real active support is better.

Greening Projects for Refugees and Refugee Camps

Today we want to write a bit about greening projects for refugees.

Why so many refugee camps have no or so less greenhouses, gardens and parks?

For some time we think about to help the poor with our greening or gardening projects, for countries (landscape greening) or cities (urban greening). Together it’s really easy to build up little greenhouses, community gardens and use permaculture or gardening techniques fit good with the regional conditions and environment, also without big irrigation. There are great greenhouse projects like Roots Up using water supply by air.
The refugee camps also could use cheap and portable (pop up) greenhouses, just for the case that camps will be closed and destroyed. How you can see we always thinking sustainable, economically and social. Greening Deserts camps are a good example for refugee camps – greening camps for refugees.

Climate Change Cleantech and Sustainable Energy

Climate Change, CleanTech and Sustainable Energy are important themes, also on the International Day of Peace. Important are also themes like Human Rights, Education and Sustainable Living. Let’s celebrate together and imagine a peaceful world without wars, hate, ignorance and all the negative characteristics of humanity. http://peacealliance.org/tools-education/peace-inspirational-quotes

Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.
We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. – Dalai Lama
Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. – Martin Luther King Jr.
Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures. – John F. Kennedy
The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace. – Mahatma Gandhi
Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. – Albert Einstein

Some plants like bamboo have a very strong and positive effect on the environment and life forms. Maybe think about bamboo as a symbolic plant for peace projects, organisations or events?

Enjoy your day, do not forget the Human Rights Day on 10 December. Peace out ! Your Greening Deserts Crowd.
